Mercury-Free Tooth Fillings

We are a mercury-free practice . We use Porcelain Inlays and Tooth-Colored Restorations (Onlays) , which not only provide a beautiful, unnoticeable repair but also add significant strength to weakened teeth.

Drawbacks of Silver Fillings

  • Weakens Tooth: Silver fillings expand, contract, and can eventually split the tooth structure.
  • Re-decay Risk: Edges wear down or break, allowing new decay to start underneath the filling.
  • Aesthetic & Health Concerns: They contain 50% mercury , can corrode, leak, and cause stains on teeth and gums.

Benefits of Tooth-Colored Restorations

  • Adds Strength: Resin onlays are *bonded* to the tooth, keeping the tooth structure intact and stronger.
  • Perfect Fit: Creates a tight, superior fit even when much of the tooth structure is lost.
  • Healthier Gums: Does not require placement at the gum line, promoting better gum health.
  • Fluoride Release: Some resins contain fluoride, which can help prevent future decay.

Replacing Silver Fillings: The Two-Appointment Process

Appointment One

  • The old filling and any decay are carefully removed.
  • An impression of the tooth is made and sent to our dental lab.
  • A temporary onlay is placed on the prepared tooth for protection.

At the Lab: The new resin or porcelain restoration is custom-designed to match your natural tooth structure and color perfectly.

Appointment Two

  • The temporary onlay is removed.
  • A conditioning gel is applied to prepare the tooth surface.
  • Bonding cement is applied, and a high-intensity light secures the restoration.
  • The new restoration is polished for a perfect, natural feel.

The result: Your teeth are restored to a natural look, feel, and are significantly stronger and better protected!
